Our band, The Ravens from Jacksonville, Florida played in Ft Lauderdale summer of 1965. We played at the Escape Hotel and Lenny’s. We also had dinner at the Cat’s Meow and a Photo shoot at the Mai Kai. I seem to remember there were walkways through the trees or something like that. I would love to hear from someone in that era.

I was drafted 2/53 in the U. S. Army and took my basic training at Camp Roberts, Ca. just north
of Paso Robles. Jack Thornton was a pal of mine along with several other guys from the bay area. Jack had the only car, a 1952 Ford. We would go to San Mateo where a few of us lived
and introduced Jack to the Lanai bar and restaurant and the Villa Chartier. The Lanai was a spectacular tropical, classy bar and served a Sidewinder’s Fang, limit one to a customer.Jack
swore he’d have a place like that in Ft. Lauderdale when he got out of the service. He went to the caribbean and the rest of us to Korea. There are only two of us left that I know of. I’d love to hear from any of his Family. My best to you all.
